Welcome to My Sewing Room

Canada's Largest Independently Owned Quilting Store with over 8,000 sq. ft. of floor space, that's roughly 50' x 160' of fabric, patterns, kits, notions and more! My Sewing Room boasts over 10,000 bolts of 100% cotton fabric from designers and manufacturers from around the world. We also carry a selection of denim, wool and flannel fabrics.

My Sewing Room has 10 daytime staff on each day to help you pick fabric, help with projects and lend advice. No really, there are ten people here right now Monday thru Friday. Anne, Mike, Max, Melissa, Trevor, Sandra, Rita plus 3-4 floor staff!

We search the globe for the latest fabric, notions and techniques and bring them to you. My Sewing Room showcases these products in our exclusive Creative Clubhouse classes, we heed your input as we stock the store with items you want and industry experienced instructors to teach these new techniques and patterns.

We're not just Quilts... well at least 0.1% of us isn't! We carry a wide range of books and magazines for all hobbyists, we have access to a large assortment of products and literature as well! Our staff have a wide range of experience in quilting, costume making, needlecraft, knitting, dress making, industrial, doll making, beadwork... ask for help with any of your projects!

Need help with your quilt? Bring it in to match fabrics or have our staff find the perfect piece from our outstanding fabric selection. Our knowledgeable staff can help you with finding products, patterns and all of your other quilting needs.
My Sewing Room is a Brother and Bernina Sewing Machine dealer with an in-house certified Service Shop! We sell, service and supply parts for both Bernina and Brother sergers, embroidery and sewing machines. My Sewing Room offers long arm quilting services with over 500+ stitch patterns and a large selection of threads and battings to make your quilt one of a kind! Did you know that you could actually fit over 30 tour buses in our parking lot?

Humble Beginnings

My Sewing Room is a family owned business started in 2001 by Anne Dale. Our very first store was located on Elbow Drive and Heritage in a small quiet community right here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Elbow Drive store was a cozy 3,000 sq. ft. we had parking for twenty and only 10 staff members and teachers at the time. Long Arm service was one of the first things implemented in the store and a small quilting class area was soon to follow. My Sewing Room was moved into it's present location in 2006 to Heritage and Macleod Trail South. We had begun renovations to the store in August and had moved in October of 2006. Electrical, Internet, Security Cameras, Lighting, Flooring, Ceiling and many of the existing walls had all been replaced. We had removed all of the existing lighting and replaced it with a unique "True Light" (Full Color Spectrum Index Lighting) system, this system was key to the new store as it would allow customers to see the true colors in the fabric. Conventional lighting often mutes the hues and contrasts, when you get the fabric out in sunlight or home you find out the color doesn't match your quilt at all!

Web Developments

The My Sewing Room website is a colorful reflection of the store, our beliefs, our customers and the industry. Quilting is no longer a necessity but a fun colorful expression of one's self. The techniques, the equipment, the patterns and all of the selections of fabrics have changed in this past century. The world is now at your doorstep, artists are the creative drive behind the prints now with an array of computer guided tools at their disposal. Patterns and creative ideas are all shared at the click of a button. Quilting clubs and guilds span the globe as do their charities and fundraisers. It is our desire to be as creative and flexible as this community, our website will always change and continue to be diverse as our industry. We value and respect the classic techniques of quilt making and embrace the new computer aided age as well.. We cater to the novice sewer and the experienced veteran. We have real world experience from a wide range of backgrounds. We are stitchers, quilters, embroiders, knitters, costume makers, fashion designers, doll makers and crafters. This is "your" sewing room and we will always welcome your feedback on "your store".
